BitSafe launches a free framework for building institutional apps on Canton, backed by a $1M+ grant. BitSafe released Decentralization Manager, an open-source framework that lets an app spread operational control across several independent operators, backed by a Canton Foundation grant of 8,500,000 CC (more than $1 million) and audited by the security firm Quantstamp. Teams can now reuse ready-made tools for shared custody, governance and audit trails instead of building them from scratch. Its first live user is CBTC, Bitcoin brought onto Canton, which has passed 10 million transactions. Decrypt
Japan’s SBI, a longtime Ripple partner, sets up a dedicated unit to build on Canton. SBI Holdings, one of Japan’s largest financial groups and a longtime Ripple partner, renamed a subsidiary to SBI Digital Practice and turned it into a standalone business built around Canton, helping financial institutions in Japan and abroad plan, build and run apps and infrastructure on the network. SBI already sits as a Super Validator, so this is a longtime XRP backer putting a dedicated team behind Canton. crypto.news

A new proposal would pay validators for network traffic instead of burned coins. A new improvement proposal, CIP-0120, would change how validators earn: rewards would follow the network traffic they actually handle rather than the amount of Canton Coin burned, and each reward would split 70% to the validator that submits a transaction and 30% to the ones that confirm it. It is still under discussion and has not gone to a vote. Canton Foundation GitHub
Console locks more than 50 million CC to keep its apps featured. Console, an ecosystem of four Canton products (a self-custodial wallet, a name service, a network explorer and a privacy-preserving transfer tool), locked over 50 million Canton Coin to hold Featured App status across those products. The rule behind it, CIP-0116, makes any featured app lock a set amount of CC (5 million per party, more for asset issuers), a market-based test that replaced the Foundation hand-picking which apps are featured.
