Canton Weekly News — DTCC goes live on Canton
DTCC, the clearinghouse that settles almost every U.S. securities trade, is putting tokenization live on Canton this week: a public countdown on DTCC's site points to a go-live around July 15, starting with DTC-custodied U.S. Treasuries minted on the network through its ComposerX platform. It is one of the clearest signs yet that traditional finance is moving onto public blockchains, with real assets from the heart of the U.S. financial system now running on Canton. Alongside it, Digital Asset co-founder Shaul Kfir proposed extending Canton Coin burning to every synchronizer, and Grayscale Research named Canton the chain behind the regulated “entitlement model” for tokenized equities. CC closed the week near $0.13, down about 4%.

Tokenization
DTCC starts putting real U.S. financial assets on Canton this week. DTCC, the clearinghouse that settles almost every U.S. securities trade, is moving tokenization from preparation into live production this week: a public countdown on its site points to a go-live around July 15, 2026. The service mints DTC-custodied U.S. Treasury securities directly on Canton through DTCC's ComposerX platform, digitizing assets that already flow through its pipes rather than creating a parallel market. It runs under a No-Action Letter the SEC granted in December 2025, with broader DTC- and Fed-eligible assets (including equities and ETFs) planned through the second half of 2026. DTCC has also taken a governance seat on Canton, joining the Canton Foundation as co-chair alongside Euroclear, giving the clearinghouse a direct hand in setting network standards. More than 50 firms, including BlackRock and JPMorgan, have taken part in the build-up. DTCC
Tokenomics
Digital Asset floats extending CC burning to every synchronizer. Today only the Global Synchronizer, the network's shared backbone, burns Canton Coin and earns validator rewards. Digital Asset co-founder Shaul Kfir has proposed extending that same fee-and-reward model to every synchronizer on Canton, including the private ones institutions already run in production. The burn would scale with the volume and throughput each synchronizer handles rather than a flat fee, so total burn rises as more synchronizers come online without changing the minting schedule. A formal Canton Improvement Proposal is expected in September 2026, with rollout targeted for the first half of 2027. CantonNews
Research
Grayscale names Canton the “entitlement model” chain for tokenized stocks. Grayscale Research published a report on equity tokenization, outlining three phases: today's third-party “wrapper” tokens (over 70% of tokenized stocks by market value, living on Ethereum, Solana and BNB Chain), a regulated “entitlement” model, and eventually issuer-sponsored native issuance. It named Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Avalanche and Canton as best positioned to benefit. Canton was singled out as the first blockchain in DTCC's entitlement-model pilot, which brings existing securities onchain through regulated post-trade infrastructure rather than issuing replacement tokens. Grayscale expects all three models to coexist for years. Bitcoin.com News
Markets
Canton Coin ends the week lower despite a mid-week bounce. Canton Coin finished the week down about 4%, closing near $0.133 versus $0.139 a week earlier. The decline came despite a sharp mid-week bounce: on July 9 CC rose roughly 4.6% off a multi-day low near $0.127, its weakest level since January. Analysts tied that bounce to short covering rather than any new catalyst, with futures open interest at 271 million tokens (the highest since May 31) and funding rates near minus 20%, signs of heavy bearish positioning that briefly unwound. The move was described as mean reversion, not a fundamental shift. CoinMarketCap
